H2o Concepts systems are friendly to the environment.

The H2O Concepts Arizona Whole House Water Filter provides a true Eco-Friendly system that not only provides Clearly Better Water throughout the house, but does so without polluting our environment or wasting natural resources. Compared to old fashioned water softeners that use salt, the H2O Concepts system can save tens of thousands of gallons of water in backwashing alone. While softeners dump thousands of gallons of highly contaminated Brine into our water treatment systems annually, the H2O Concepts system uses an average 10 gallons of water per day for a family of 4, and NO brine discharge. In addition, since our conditioners clean and filter the water at every faucet and shower in the house there is no need for expensive reverse osmosis drinking water filtration. Reverse Osmosis requires filter changes, tank sanitation, and membranes to be replaced. Reverse Osmosis systems can waste 1 to 4 gallons of water for every gallon of water they filter. The ratio of 1(drinkable) to 4 (waste) gallons is sent down the drain!

The environmental consequences of dumping thousands of gallons of brine discharge into water treatment systems has prompted city, county, and state regulatory agencies in several states to BAN self-regenerating water softeners!

Current States that Ban Water Softeners Using Salt

Califorina

Although California does not have a statewide water-softener ban in place, in 2005 lawmakers passed Assembly Bill 1366. It states that local water districts have the right to impose a ban on self-regenerating water softeners if they determine that such a ban is required in order to satisfy discharge standards set by the state

2008 Santa Clarita Valley enacted legislation governing the use of these water softeners. With the Santa Clara River one of only two remaining natural river systems in Southern California, local officials attempted to decrease their liability as well as the associated costs of introducing more than the accepted salt levels set by the state. Thousands and thousands of residents have since complied with the removal of these water softeners. Residents who did not respond to the notification and the subsequent removal were warned of a consequent home inspection and a possible $1000 fine for violations. The City of Santa Clarita’s Mayor, Marsha McLean stated, “This Enforcement Program will help remove the remaining automatic water softeners in the community. It will further lower the salt concentration in the water going to the river and ultimately save Santa Clarita Valley residents and businesses a substantial sum of money.” The domino effect has been felt throughout the region as other California cities imposed similar bans.

California cities with a salt water softener ban include: Fillmore, Chino, Chino Hills, Fontana, Montclair, Ontario, Upland, the Cucamonga Valley and Monte Vista Water Districts.

Results of legislation

Massachusetts

Brine discharge from salt water softeners is prohibited from entering private septic systems by Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Title 5 regulations.

Connecticut

Brine discharge from salt water softeners is prohibited from entering private septic systems by the CT Public Health Code, in order to protect against groundwater contamination and damage to septic systems.

Michigan

HAMBURG TOWNSHIP, MICH. — The city board of Hamburg Township, Mich. approved an ordinance that requires residents who use water softeners to switch from using sodium chloride to more expensive potassium chloride.

One thing that has been determined is that the use of Eco-Friendly H2O Concepts whole house conditioners is by far the least expensive, most environmentally friendly means of removing chemical and heavy metal contaminants while preventing hard water scale buildup in plumbing and fixtures of all the systems being offered.
